A.S. President

Victoria Lara

Victoria Lara (She/Her) is a junior from Calexico, California. She is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Administration and expects to graduate Fall of 2023. Her involvement in Associated Students (A.S.) began while she served as an officer for different recognized student organizations and sought to engage with campus staff and resources to promote student engagement. 

Victoria’s leadership and service include:

  • Sitting as a voting member for the Bylaws, Special Events and Social Activities committees for A.S. IV and the Student Grievances committee for the University Senate. 
  • Chairing the Media and Marketing, Sustainability and JEDI committees for A.S. IV. 
  • Representing SDSU IV students on global education and cultural immersion programs in Galway, Ireland and the SDSU Center for Mesoamerican Studies in Oaxaca, Mexico. 
  • Serving as a student lead on the Empoderación en la Educacion project for the offices of Student Affairs and SDSU IV Cross Cultural Center. 

Her goals for the year are to ensure transparency and accountability between administration and students at large.  She hopes to help educate students on the resources available and facilitate their academic and personal success. Most importantly, she hopes to empower students to voice their concerns and become active in their campus communities.

Javier Melara

Javier Melara

Javier Armando Melara Martinez is a senior from Calexico, California. He is pursuing a degree in Spanish with a minor in English. His involvement in Associated Students (A.S.) began during Fall 2022 when he transferred from Imperial Valley College to San Diego State University.

Javier’s leadership and service include:

  • Part of committee of Aztec Events (Social and Education)
  • Part of committee of Sustainability
  • A.S. Executive Vice President (2023-2024)

As the Executive Vice President of the Associated Students for the upcoming year, his goals are to foster a strong sense of community among students, enhance student engagement in campus activities, and advocate for student needs and interests. He aims to create inclusive spaces and platforms for student voices to be heard, ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented and respected. Additionally, he will work towards promoting student well-being by improving mental health resources and implementing initiatives that prioritize student health and happiness.

A.S. Vice President of Finance

Kenia Neblina

Kenia Neblina is a senior from Brawley, California. She is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Her involvement in Associated Students (A.S.) began in her first year, second semester at SDSU-IV when a friend pushed her into joining.

Kenia’s leadership and service include:

  • Vice President of Finance
  • Finance Committee
  • Sustainability Committee
  • Campus Safety Committee

She plans to have more student involvement within our campus, hear students out and make the Student Union Building a safe and reliable place for students to go. She plans to further her education and get a better understanding of what path she’ll take with her degree.

Andrea

Andrea M. Acuña is a Sophomore from Calexico, California.  She is pursuing a degree in Liberal Studies. Her involvement in Associated Students (A.S.) began her first year as Elections Coordinator. 

Andrea’s leadership and service include:

  • Chair of Special Events Committee
  • Chair of Bylaws Committee
  • Media & Marketing Committee
  • Calfresh Outreach

Her goals this year are to advocate for students need’s, help enhance campus life, foster a sense of community on campus, and ensure effective student representation.
